My 9/11 Experience
September 10, 2016
Hi there!
It’s hard to believe we’re already in September, but here we are, already almost a week into this month of fresh beginnings and opportunities! Even though I live in Hawaii, where it’s warm all year-round, I still resonate with the feeling of September being a fresh start, as well as a time to hunker down and get down to business, as the long summer days get crisper and shorter.
This month also marks fifteen years since the tragic 9/11 attacks took place in New York City. During 9/11, I was attending another seemingly-normal day of school as an eighth-grader at the Rudolf Steiner School on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Our teachers announced to us the news that the World Trade Center had been hit by a plane, and at that point, no other information was known. It was a scary and confusing time. My most vivid memory from that day is walking home with my mother (it was quite a trek to make it back to our home on Roosevelt Island without many buses or subways running) and seeing hundreds of people walking across the Queensborough Bridge, with the black, smokey skies of the fallen Twin Towers in the background. It’s an image I will never forget.
This 9/11, I am very excited to put on a RammDance community event promoting deep, cellular healing. Live music of the Native American flute, drums, and Gong by RammDance company dancer and sound healer Eric Belair, along with guided meditation and gentle movement is an ideal way to bring more peace and harmony into your body, your mind, your spirit...and your life! We will send our healing intentions out into the world, and utilize our meditation experience to impact our planet at large.

Courtney
